The NHMRC National Institute for Dementia Research (NNIDR) is a key element of the Australian Government’s $200 million investment to boost dementia research.
NNIDR is an initiative of the National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) and is hosted and administered by Dementia Australia.
NNIDR targets, coordinates and translates the strategic expansion of dementia research in Australia. NNIDR will collaborate with Australia’s best researchers while also drawing on the expertise of consumers, health professionals, industry and policy makers to translate evidence into policy and practice.
Through collaboration, including with international partnerships, identifying a disease-modifying therapy by 2025 is the international priority set by the World Dementia Council to which NNIDR will make a significant contribution.
